Israel benefited by having one of their neighboring enemies, namely Saddam Hussein and his standing army, weakened and preoccupied. It is not a coincidence that advocates and newspaper pundits most defensive about our invasion happen to be strong advocates of Israel’s right-wing will. Evidence clearly shows that some Israeli supporters were part of the culture of deception to take us to war with Iraq—as they are now working to take us to war with Iran with a similar pattern of phony intelligence. Equally it is a fact that whatever Middle East group harbors hostility toward Israel is now considered terrorist in nature to Americans. It is a fact that the Israeli lobby pushed hard for war with Iraq.

Israel's Goal: Win back support for the increasingly unpopular policies of Sharon in Israel and provide a basis for a mass invasion of occupied Palestine. By causing Americans to feel the "pain" of terrorism they could more easily identify with Israel and willingly support Israelis actions against Palestinian "terrorists."

As a result of the "terrorism" experienced by Americans, laws were enacted to make Israel's enemies America's enemies. Hezbollah, Hamas, and other Palestinian freedom fighters were demonized as terrorists and enemies of America and the world. Although they had nothing to do with 9/11, their funding was frozen. Anyone having any association with them was and is treated as a criminal in any part of the world and arrested. Legitimate Islamic charities helping the victims of Zionist aggression were shutdown and many innocent Muslims were given lengthy jail sentences for donating money to these charities. As a result of Israeli aggression, any Muslim who dared to fight back was immediately labeled a terrorist.

Since 1967, the United Nations has in vain urged Israel to rescind its annexation and population transfer, which contradict the UN Charter, are serious violations of international humanitarian and human rights law, and result in war crimes. All states have been called to:
Abstain from assisting these Israeli violations, and, cooperate in order to bring them to an end.
Private companies have been reminded of their duty to respect international humanitarian and human rights law and terminate business involvement in the illegal Israeli activities in occupied East Jerusalem.

Deprived of land, homes and heritage: home demolitions and forced evictions:

✴At least one third of the Palestinian land has been expropriated, mainly under the Absentees’ Property Law and for alleged “public” purpose. Even where Palestinians still own land, they cannot build on it. Under the pretext of “urban planning”, Israel restricts Palestinian development to 13% of the area of East Jerusalem. Thousands of Palestinians have been evicted and Palestinian homes and heritage destroyed, as their land has been allocated for Jewish-Israeli urban infrastructure, settlements and sites of tourism and worship.

✴In the Old City after the 1967 war, entire Palestinian neighbourhoods were destroyed and the land expropriated. Several thousand Palestinian inhabitants, including many 1948 refugees, were evicted to create space for Jewish worshippers and the new, expanded Jewish Quarter.

✴Today, in Palestinian neighbourhoods adjacent to the Old City (Sheikh Jarrah, Silwan, Issawiya, Al Tour) Israeli settlers, authorities and courts collude in evicting Palestinians and destroying their homes and heritage for the development of Israeli-Jewish “national parks“ and tourist sites – often taking advantage of an Israeli law that allows claims for pre-1948 properties in East Jerusalem - but not in West Jerusalem where the properties of the refugees are located.

✴In the outskirts of East Jerusalem, Palestinian homes and communities (Beit Hanina, Shufat, Beit Safafa, Bedouin communities) are destroyed to make space for Israeli settlements and highways constructed in expropriated land for Israeli “Greater Jerusalem” in the occupied West Bank.

✴Palestinian structures built without permits are systematically demolished. Permits that Israel will not issue to a Palestinian.

Israel’s ongoing denial of Palestinian rights and unconditional U.S. financial and diplomatic support for Israel fuels anti-American sentiment abroad. The negative perception of the United States is based on American policies and not a dislike of the West. Acknowledging Israel's crimes and recognizing the rights of the Palestinian people would undoubtedly improve America’s international image, by proving that the U.S. government supports the consistent application of international law.As long as the U.S. runs an annual budget deficit, every dollar of aid the U.S. gives Israel has to be raised through U.S. government borrowing so the US has to also pay loan guarantees and annual compound interest on money borrowed to give to Israel. All aid to Israel is illegal under international (and US) law, because Israel is a consistent violator of human rights. Also Israel’s nuclear weapons, built as they are with components stolen from the U.S. and Israel's refusal to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty render that nation ineligible for American aid. No one in the US government will publicly admit to this truth because to do so would break the very laws we passed decades ago against proliferation, while simultaneously exposing the hypocrisy of the current Israeli foreign policy of the US.
