Speaking on Fox & Friends on Thursday morning, the president said: “I went to Russia for a day or so... of course I stayed there,” referring to the much-talked-about trip that became central to allegations made in the controversial Steele dossier. According to notes made public last week by former FBI Director James Comey, Trump told him on two occasions that he didn’t stay the night in Moscow, but that claim gradually unraveled this week after Politico obtained flight records and the host of the pageant told The Daily Beast Trump stayed at least one night. On Thursday, Trump denied that he ever told Comey he didn’t stay over in Moscow, saying: “I stayed there a very short period of time but of course I stayed. His memos said I left immediately, I never said that, I never said I left immediately.” Elsewhere in the interview, Trump admitted that his under-fire attorney Michael Cohen represented him on “this crazy Stormy Daniels deal.”

President Donald Trump denied on Thursday that he told former FBI Director James Comey that he didn't spend a night in Moscow, saying, "Of course I stayed there."

"He didn't write those memos accurately. He put a lot of phony stuff. For instance, I went to Russia for a day or so -- a day or two -- because I own the Miss Universe Pageant, so I went there to watch it," Trump said on "Fox & Friends."

"He said I didn't stay there a night. Of course I stayed there. I stayed there a very short period of time but of course I stayed. Well, his memo said I left immediately. I never said that. I never said I left immediately."
Comey, who was fired by Trump in May 2017, wrote in memos that Trump told him on two occasions that he did not stay overnight in Moscow around the time of the Miss Universe pageant in 2013.

CNN reported shortly before Trump took office that Comey presented Trump with claims of Russian efforts to compromise him. BuzzFeed News published the full, unverified dossier that included the infamous claim that Russian authorities had evidence of Trump watching prostitutes urinate in a hotel suite.

There is no indication that such a tape exists, and Trump has denied it.
At a CNN town hall on Wednesday, CNN's Anderson Cooper asked Comey, "Since then, flight records, social media posts, congressional testimony, also photographs prove that he actually did spend the night in Moscow. Do you think it's significant that the President lied to you twice?"

"It's always significant when someone lies to you, especially about something you're not asking about. It tends to reflect a consciousness of guilt," Comey said. "I don't know what was in his head. I don't know whether he was intentionally misstating a fact to me."

A New Report Raises Big Questions About Last Year’s DNC Hack
Former NSA experts say it wasn’t a hack at all, but a leak—an inside job by someone with access to the DNC’s system.

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, a California Republican, met Wednesday with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in London.

Assange's WikiLeaks, which published hacked Democratic National Committee emails during the 2016 presidential campaign, is believed to have obtained the emails from Russian intelligence, according to U.S. intelligence agencies. Assange, who has been living in the Ecuadorian embassy in London since 2012 in an effort to avoid extradition to Sweden on sexual assault charges, has disputed this.

"He reaffirmed his aggressive denial that the Russians had anything to do with the hacking of the DNC during the election," Rohrabacher told the Orange County Register. "He has given us a lot of information. He said there's more to come. We don't have the entire picture yet."

Assange "emphatically stated that the Russians were not involved in the hacking or disclosure of those emails," according to a statement from Rohrabacher's office.

Rohrabacher, a former Reagan White House communications aide, is an outspoken defender of Russian President Vladimir Putin and one of the Democrats' top targets for the 2018 midterm elections. He is a fervent supporter of President Trump, who has also cast doubt on whether Russia was involved in the 2016 election meddling.

Speaking of the information he says he obtained from Assange, Rohrabacher told the Register it would have "an earth-shattering political impact. It wouldn't be so important if Democrats hadn't focused so inordinately on the Russians. Democrats are creating a total upheaval over this."

"I have some information to give the president before I give information to anyone else," he added.

Julian Assange appeared to dispute Rep. Dana Rohrabacher’s assertion that the WikiLeaks founder is ready to give up the source who provided his website with the Democratic National Committee emails it published last July.

“WikiLeaks never has and never will reveal a source,” Assange tweeted Wednesday.

He was responding to a Daily Caller report that Rohrabacher, a California Republican, and Kentucky GOP Sen. Rand Paul met to discuss a deal for Assange to out his source in exchange for a pardon from President Donald Trump.
